Johnson’s Motorcar

       C                                             G                  C
It was down on Brannigan’s Corner one morning I did stray
                                 F                C
I saw a fellow rebel, and to me he did say:
                                                 F                 C
We’ve orders from the Captain to assemble at Dunbar
                                           G              C
But how are we to get there without a motorcar

Oh Barney, dear, be of good cheer and I’ll tell you what we’ll do
The Specials, they are plentiful, but the IRA are few
We’ll send a note to Johnson to meet us at Stranlar
And we’ll give the Boys a bloody good ride in Johnson’s motorcar

When Dr. Johnson got the news he soon put on his shoes
He said: This is in urgent haste; there is no time to lose
He then put on his Caster hat, and on his breast a star
You could hear the din all around Glenn Flynn of Johnson’s motorcar

But when he got to the railway bridge and the rebels he saw there
Old Johnson knew the game was up as at him we did stare
He said: I have a permit to travel near or far
Well, you can shove your permit up your arse; we want your motorcar

We got that car in motion and we filled it to the brim
With guns and bayonets flashin’; they made old Johnson cringe
Then Barney hoisted a Sinn Fein flag that fluttered like a star
And we hipped-hurray the IRA in Johnson’s motorcar
