Waltzing Matilda
PD: Banjo Patterson, 1895
notes: So much has been written about this song that anything I might offer would be superfluous.. except... I wonder why so few commentaries on this song ignore the metaphorical meaning of the title. ("Waltzing Matilda" also means commanding destiny. One aspires to waltz his own matilda. In this sense, "you'll come a-waltzing matilda with me", doesn't mean "let us go together". It mwans "you'll do what I tell you to do").
Waltzing Matilda

D                A              D               G            D                           A
Once a Jolly swag-man camped by a billabong under the shade of a coolbough tree
           D             A         D                 G               D                  G              A            D
And he sang as he sat and waited 奏ill his billy boiled: You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me
D                      G                      D                   G              A
Waltzing matilda, waltzing matilda, you値l come a-waltzing matilda with me
           D             A         D                 G               D                  G              A            D
And he sang as he sat and waited 奏ill his billy boiled: you値l come a-waltzing matilda with me

Down came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong
Up jumped the swag-man and grabbed him with glee
And he sang as he stove that jumbuck in his tucker bag
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me

Waltzing matilda, waltzing matilda
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me
And he sang as he stove that Jumbuck in his tucker bag
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me

Up came the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred
Down came the troopers, one-two-three
Where痴 the jolly Jumbuck you致e got in your tucker bag
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me

Waltzing matilda, waltzing matilda
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me
Where痴 the jolly Jumbuck you致e got in your tucker bag
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me

Up jumped the swag-man and sprang into the billabong
You値l never catch me alive, said he
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me

Waltzing matilda, waltzing matilda
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You値l come a-waltzing matilda with me
